The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to continue developing new technologies for Singapore container terminal operations.

Both parties signed the MoU earlier today under the Port Technology Research and Development Programme (PTRDP).

The programme hopes to invest funding in a number of ongoing research and development (R&D) projects between the two companies including; port automation, intelligent planning and control systems, and green port solutions.

Both the MPA and PSA have offered to invest S$15 million each, spanning the next five years, bringing the total amount committed towards the programme to $50 million.

The initial $20 million invested under the PTRDP will be used for research and test-bedding projects on AGV systems and automation in both crane and yard operations.
