Singapore, Shandong ink green digital shipping corridor partnership

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has partnered with the Shandong Provincial Transport Department of China to establish the Singapore-Shandong Green and Digital Shipping Corridor (GDSC).

The agreement was signed at the 25th Singapore-Shandong Business Council meeting held in Singapore.

The GDSC aims to leverage the growing trade and shipping volumes between Singapore and Shandong, encouraging the adoption of green and digital technologies in the maritime industry.

Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), MPA and Shandong’s Transport Department will work together with various stakeholders—such as maritime administrations, port operators, and shipyards—to explore digital and low-carbon solutions.

Key areas of focus include the development of emerging technologies, the safe handling of alternative fuels, and the exchange of best practices in shore power and port digitalisation.

This MoU follows the establishment of the Singapore-Tianjin GDSC in 2023.

In March, Singapore and Australia signed a MoU to legally create the Singapore-Australia GDSC.
