As the fourth largest container shipping company in the world, Evergreen Line is responsible for calling at more than 240 ports worldwide, with a fleet of more than 190 vessels.

Founded in 1968, Evergreen Line is the marketing trade name used for its four companies: Evergreen Marine Corp (Taiwan), Italia Marittima S.p.A, Evergreen Marine (UK) and Evergreen Marine (Hong Kong).

Throughout the 1970s, additional vessels were added to its fleet, marking a significant period of growth in the container liner’s history.

Services to East Asia and Central America were added during this time and the company began serving the US by 1974, while establishing Evergreen Marine Corporation (New York) in the same year.

According to the Journal of Commerce, Evergreen Line was ranked third in the US for containerised import trade in 2013, with volumes of more than 1,300,000 TEU.

PTI previously reported the company as having a total combined TEU capacity of 850,000 TEU and a total market share of 5.1%.
