MSC outlines inland Gulf cargo routes amid security risks

Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has outlined inland routing options for Gulf-bound cargo as security concerns persist across the Middle East.

MSC’s Dragon and Jade services offer competitive transit times from Asia, with inland connectivity supported through merchant and carrier-arranged haulage via King Abdullah and Jeddah.

This routing enables cargo to move inland from the Red Sea to key Gulf destinations, including Dammam, Riyadh, Jubail, Bahrain, Kuwait, Hamad, Jebel Ali and Abu Dhabi.

More broadly, six Asia–Mediterranean services within MSC’s standalone East–West network provide direct calls and competitive transit times, strengthening connectivity between Asia, the Mediterranean and onward inland markets in the Gulf.

As security dynamics continue to shape routing decisions across the Middle East, carriers and cargo owners are increasingly assessing alternative corridors and inland logistics options to maintain reliable access to Gulf markets.

Recently, MSC outlined inland logistics solutions for cargo moving to Iraq, using its Asia–Türkiye services to support onward transport to key Iraqi cities amid ongoing security concerns in the Middle East.
