Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has introduced the Afungi Shuttle, a new maritime service connecting Afungi, Mozambique, with dedicated feeder connections from Nacala and Maputo.
The service has been developed to support growing economic activity in northern Mozambique, facilitating the transportation of construction materials, machinery, industrial equipment, spare parts and other cargo required for the development of the LNG project in Afungi.
The Afungi Shuttle offers access to Afungi through connections from major trade routes serving Europe, the Mediterranean, America, Asia, the Middle East and Southern Africa, supported by MSC’s origin coverage and local presence in Mozambique. Customers are offered a single MSC booking and one commercial point of contact for the full journey.

Dedicated feeder connections operate via Nacala–Afungi–Nacala and Maputo–Afungi–Maputo rotations.
By including the coastal feeder connection within the MSC booking, the service is designed to simplify cargo planning and improve coordination for shipments moving to Afungi, reducing the administrative burden on customers managing multi-leg cargo movements into the region.
The launch reflects continued infrastructure and logistics investment tied to Mozambique’s LNG development, with feeder connectivity via Nacala and Maputo positioning both ports as key gateways supporting project cargo movement into Afungi.
