A.P. Moller-Maersk (Maersk) will reinstate calls at the Yangshan Deep-Water Port as part of an update to its Northern Star service, aimed at improving network resilience and transhipment efficiency.
The change, effective from 3 May 2026 with the Maersk Innoshima, will see the service shift from Port of Shanghai to Yangshan, enhancing connectivity to and from Shanghai.
Under the revised rotation, the service will call: Shanghai (Yangshan) – Hong Kong – Brisbane – Auckland – Nelson – Timaru – Port Chalmers – Napier – Tauranga.
The previous rotation included Shanghai (Waigaoqiao) instead of Yangshan.

The first vessel to call Yangshan will be Maersk Innoshima, operating northbound voyage 613N and southbound voyage 619S, with an estimated arrival on 3 May 2026.
The move reflects a broader trend among carriers to optimise port calls within major gateway hubs, leveraging deep-water terminals such as Yangshan to improve schedule reliability and strengthen transhipment links across regional networks.
