Ellerman City Liners has introduced a new short-sea shipping route connecting the Baltics with the UK and the Benelux region, its first dedicated service in this area.
The BALTEX service will operate on a fixed weekly rotation, calling at Riga, Latvia; Gdynia, Poland; Teesport and Tilbury in the UK; Rotterdam in the Netherlands; and Oslo, Norway.
The service provides a capacity of 1,160 TEU per leg and offers transshipment connections to Spain and Portugal via the Port of Tilbury, one of the UK’s key short-sea and deep-sea hubs.
The new route expands Ellerman City Liners’ presence in the Baltic region and strengthens its coverage of the Rotterdam–Oslo corridor.

It is the latest addition to the company’s Northern Europe short-sea portfolio, which includes six other services: iNEX 1, iNEX 2, iPEX 1 & 2, iPEX 3, and iBEX 1.
The launch comes amid growing demand for short-sea container capacity in the Baltic, providing shippers with an option that can reduce CO2 emissions by up to 50 per cent compared with road transport.

In December 2025, Laude Smart Intermodal and Loconi Intermodal S.A. launched regular intermodal services for A.P. Moller–Maersk (Maersk) from the Baltic Hub terminal in Gdańsk to Ukraine.
