ShibataFenderTeam opens manufacturing facility in Spain
ShibataFenderTeam has opened its fourth manufacturing facility in Valencia, Spain, to double production capacity for foam fenders and steel works.

The €7 million ($8 million) investment will double the company’s production capacity for foam fenders and steel works, aimed at meeting increasing demand across Spain, the Mediterranean, and wider EMEA markets.

The facility includes modern manufacturing equipment such as a 180-tonne test press for product testing and R&D, advanced welding stations, and specialised blasting and painting booths.

Staff in Spain received technical training at the company’s Rechlin site in Germany to ensure consistent quality standards, with German personnel supporting the facility’s early operations.

Local and regional officials, including representatives from government and industry bodies, attended the opening ceremony alongside ShibataFenderTeam employees and stakeholders.

Dominique Polte, Board Member of ShibataFenderTeam, stated: “This new facility is an exciting step forward for ShibataFenderTeam, enabling us to better serve the market with advanced production capabilities and local expertise.

“Valencia’s strategic location near key ports, its excellent infrastructure, and its highly skilled workforce make it the ideal place for this new facility.”

Last month, the Port of Oakland upgraded Berth 10 to support long-term operations. ShibataFenderTeam supplied five customised SPC 1000 Cone Fender systems with closed-box steel panels (2286 x 3658 mm) to extend the berth’s service life and meet site-specific needs.
