Shekou Container Terminals has implemented Portchain Connect to simplify the berth alignment process with shipping lines.

Shekou Container Terminals (SCT) will join the Portchain Connect network on 8 December, Portchain announced.

SCT is a major transportation gateway for both international and domestic cargo in and out of south China.

Through digital handshakes and secure data sharing, Shekou Container Terminals will use Portchain Connect to simplify their communication channels and improve the quality and speed of its berth alignment with customers.

To shorten the time to align the berthing window, Portchain Connect streamlines the flow of schedule data through providing improved communication channels that not only increase quality, but curb delays in transmitting information.

Portchain Connect enables Shekou Container Terminals to receive real-time schedule and move count updates directly from carrier systems, and enables them to respond and counter propose quickly, to align the vessel schedule with the terminal berth plan.

Through providing their users with a seamless overview of all their vessel calls, Portchain Connect ensures the secure transfer of berthing information, while removing the costs associated with manual non-digitised communication and improving schedule reliability.

CCO & Co-Founder of Portchain Connect, Thor Thorup, said: “We are excited to work with Shekou Container Terminals and help them drive efficiencies in their berth alignment process by facilitating streamlined data exchange.”
