ShibataFenderTeam (SFT) Group has supplied a newly constructed general cargo terminal in Altamira, Mexico with its Cone Fender Systems.

The company’s client Desmontes y Presas de las Huastecas (DPH) and its subsidiary Puertos Integrales del Sureste SA. (PISSA) provide integrated solutions for construction projects and specialise in developing the necessary infrastructure for transportation, logistics and storage of materials required for the construction of wind turbines.

DPH and PISSA have recently built a dedicated terminal for the needs of the energy construction industry. The terminal officially came online in 2021.

Boasting a total area of 35.7 hectares and a 300-metre berth, the facility allows for the unloading of oversized materials, such as parts of wind turbines.

SFT was recruited in April 2019 by project contractor CIMESA to supply five sets of SPC 1150 Cone Fender Systems and five pieces of T Head Bollard with a capacity of 100 tons.

Delivery was completed on time in August 2019 and will help ensure safe berthing at the terminal.

“We are pleased to contribute our part to a safer berthing environment at the specialised terminal. SFT Group wishes PISSA and all operators a successful business in Altamira,” ShibataFenderTeam said in a statement.

Earlier this year, SFT also supplied PSA Sines with an order of 17 sets of Double SPC 1100 Cone Fender Systems, nine pieces of 950 x 4200-millimetre rubber ladders, and 16 SFT Staghorn Bollards with a capacity of 200 tons.

The delivery aimed to support the terminal, located in the Port of Sines, in accomodating larger and additional container ships.
