Seaspan Corporation has announced the order of six new containerships with a capacity of 13,600 TEUs.
Seaspan Corp and Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding, under China State Shipbuilding Corp, as well as China Shipbuilding Trading Co. Ltd, signed a contract in Shanghai on 18 October, bringing Hudong-Zhonghua’s total big containership orders to more than 100.
The vessels, which have a length of 336 metres and a width of 51 metres, are scheduled to be delivered between 2026 and 2028.
According to Seaspan, they are designed to meet the most recent specifications for low energy consumption, high speed, greenness, and sustainability.
More recently, in September, the company received AiP from Lloyd’s Register for its dual-fuel ammonia-powered next-generation feeder ship design.
