San Antonio Terminal Internacional surpasses 1 million TEUs in 2024

With the arrival of the vessel Skagen Maersk, San Antonio Terminal Internacional (STI) has passed the 1 million TEU mark for the 13th consecutive year.

The milestone was attained while aiding the 347-metre ‘cherry express’ vessel, which is parked at STI site 2 and will shortly begin its 21-day voyage to Asia.

STI’s general manager, Andrés Albertini, said: “This year was challenging for our port and the Chilean economy, with lower volumes, which meant achieving this milestone later than prior years.

“Today we continue to be the country’s leading port terminal. We have the capacity for 1.6 million TEUs/year, and we see a great future for our port to continue providing safe, efficient service.”

Recently, Empresa Portuaria San Antonio (EPSA) informed the Financial Market Commission (CMF) that STI met its 2020 investment commitments, resulting in the concession being extended to 1 January 2030.

In September, SAAM Terminals revealed that all of its Chilean terminals certified their carbon emissions measurement and reduction in 2023.
