The container terminal of Saint-Petersburg (CTSP, part of UCL Holding) has spent $153 million on its development program, twice as much as in the same period last year.

The investment from January to September 2016 included $130 million spent on purchase of handling equipment, upgrading of handling gear and development of IT infrastructure.

Port infrastructure, maintenance and renovation projects, including improvements to the protection relay system of the central electric substation came to $2.3 million.

CTSP announced in the first half of 2016 that the terminal handled almost 2.9 million TEU, exceeding last-years result by 66.5%.

It has since purchased three diesel-electric hybrid RTG cranes from Konecranes, which have a capacity of 40 tons and are fitted with a GPS-based auto-steering module and an auto-stop function and fibre-optic network.

CTSP has also acquired two Kalmar DRG Reachstackers with a lifting capacity of 45 tons and six Kalmar tractors, able to lift 65 tons, with Seacom semitrailers.

To ensure safer operations and meet the new SOLAS container weighing requirements, CTSP was equipped with BCA-P scales for container gross mass verification and reporting to the carrier (VGM certificate).

Container terminal Saint-Petersburg (member of UCL Port, stevedoring division of the international transportation group UCL Holding) is a modern container handling facility in the 4th district of the Big Port Saint-Petersburg. In 2015 the terminal handled 398,000 TEU.
