In response to the evolving security situation in the Middle East, CMA CGM has confirmed that the safety of its crew, vessels, and customers’ cargo remains its highest priority.
The carrier is implementing emergency measures for shipments to and from Iraq, Bahrain, Kuwait, Yemen, Qatar, Oman, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia, including vessel deviations to contingency ports in line with Clause 10 of its Bill of Lading and applicable Force Majeure provisions.
According to CMA CGM, customers will be contacted for further instructions on the onward handling of their cargo, with options for delivery at contingency ports, alternative transport, or change of destination, all subject to operational feasibility and cost.
The carrier states associated costs, including handling and storage, will be borne by customers, and notes the measures may present operational challenges.
These measures come after CMA CGM and COSCO SHIPPING LINES closely monitored developments in the Strait of Hormuz and the wider Middle East, where escalating regional tensions disrupted maritime traffic.
