The Port Authority of New South Wales has awarded Saab a contract to implement a new KleinPilot pilot dispatch application for Sydney Harbour and Port Botany.

The new KleinPilot system will be used by Port staff to more efficiently manage the dispatch of the pilots in the two ports and streamline communications with the pilots. KleinPilot is based on Saab’s state-of-the-art N-Tier management information system platform and will include the following features and functionality:

  • Web-based interface to facilitate easy user access and deployment
  • KleinMobile iPhone application to allow pilots to receive assignments, record job information and submit time cards on their mobile device

KleinPilot gives Pilots mobile access to the timely, accurate information they need to do their jobs. It helps Pilotages improve the efficiency of their pilot dispatching function and manage pilot rotation, activities, schedules and status. Agents, ports and other stakeholders can access the information they need through a secure web interface. KleinPilot’s integrated billing module also aims to provide an efficient, accurate invoicing for pilotage services, improving cash flow and revenue generation.

The system will be hosted and maintained by Saab and is scheduled to commence use in live production by May 2017.
