The Port of Rotterdam is introducing a new online platform to bring potential international clients into contact with Rotterdam’s port business community.
It is also working in collaboration with Nextlogic and supply chain optimiser Quintiq to implement the BREIN platform to more effectively manage Rotterdam’s inland container shipping.
The Rotterdam Port Connector website is a product of the Rotterdam Port Promotion Council (RPPC), developed specially for the business community, and it offers several functionalities.
The online platform makes it possible for businesses with a logistics need to post their request online and the request can relate to transport, storage or handling or a specific service and is immediately received by over 500 service providers who are affiliated with the RPPC.
Marjolein Warburg, Driector of the RPPC, said: “In this way, we bring supply and demand together online. No other port has such a platform.”
The website has already been live for three weeks and has processed the initial requests.
The requesting party remains anonymous as they decide for themselves when to contact the service provider.
In addition to posting requests, the Rotterdam Port Connector offers the companies invited to an RPPC gathering the chance to meet the Rotterdam service providers on the spot.
