RoRo cargo on fire at Port of Tacoma

The cargo deck of RoRo cargo ship Midnight Sun has caught fire whilst docked at the Port of Tacoma.

The fire broke out in the evening 22 September following electrical malfunction of the equipment on deck, according to preliminary investigation.

The fire was extinguished by the crew on site before the arrival of the fire unit. The ship has suffered minimal damage.

There have been no reports of injured or leaks.

As of morning 24 September, the Midnight Sun was still berthed at Tacoma.
