The Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP), Asia’s most technologically advanced port, has deployed Portchain’s Berth Optimization Engine as part of its digitization journey.
According to a statement from Portchain, a provider of advanced and AI solutions for the shipping industry, PTP launched the technology to optimize its berth planning operations.
Portchain says its algorithms will enable PTP to deploy their assets more effectively to increase berth productivity and reduce operating costs.
Furthermore, it will enable better collaboration between terminal departments as well as allowing the port to operate as a fully digital terminal.
PTP is one of the 21st century maritime success stories; having been founded in 2000, it is now the third biggest in Southeast Asia and one of the world’s top 20.
In October 2019 it unveiled an expansion plan to more than double its TEU capacity from 12 million to 30 million.
Speaking about the deal with Portchain, Neelsen said PTP’s growth and competitiveness was attributable to its emphasis to new technology.
