The Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) has said it has broken its utilisation record for a Maersk vessel by loading 19,334 TEU onto the Murcia Maersk on the 25 July 2020.
In a statement, PTP said it the announcement breaks the previous record of 19,284 TEU set by the Monaco Maersk on 1 June 2019.
It credited the achievement to its “various operational improvement initiatives” and “consistency in productivity”.
Additionally, it said the achievement would not have been possible “without the cooperation and joint effort” by its entire operational team.
It is the latest achievement by PTP, which at the end of July broke its productivity move record. That followed a series of port optimisation records as it received many of the biggest vessels in the world, such as the MSC Gulsun and the HMM Algeciras, currently the largest in the world.
Additionally, in April 2020 it recorded an all-time container terminal move record as it saw a total of 137,256 moves in a week, equivalent of 211,997 TEUs.
This beat the previous record of 132, 506 moves, or 202,871 TEUs, set in the second week of January 2020.
