PTP breaks records in December 2020

The Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) broke its monthly TEU handling and shift move records in December 2020, despite the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In an online update, PTP said it recorded 967,783 TEU in December 2020, a substantial increase on the previous record of 922,800, which it only set in November 2020.

Furthermore, its Group A Operations Team achieved its highest moves in a shift with a total of 12,411 moves, which amounted to moving 19.984 TEU.

This surpassed PTP’s previous shift record of 11,430 moves and 18,059 TEU.

PTP said, “this historical achievement would not be possible without the cooperation and joint effort by all parties and is truly a statement of everyone’s continuous effort, dedication and hard work as one unified team.”

It is the latest record set by PTP, which has become one of the fastest growing hubs for containerised trade in the world.

In November it broke the vessel utilisation record for a Maersk containership when it logged 19,388 TEU on the Munich Maersk, for which it credited to operational improvement initiatives and consistency in productivity.
