PSA International’s Bharat Mumbai Container Terminals (BMCT) has celebrated 20 years of the Singaporean company’s presence in India by hosting events in Mumbai and New Delhi.

The events on July 24-25, 2018, followed similar celebrations held at PSA’s terminals in Tuticorin and Chennai, with the Mumbai event attended by over 200 people from shipping lines, logistics, trade associations and business partners.

BMCT is PSA’s newest terminal in India having only opened in February 2018.

Ong Kim Pong, of PSA, outlines his vision for the next generation of terminals in a recent Port Technology technical paper

Since then, it has handled over 130,000 TEU and regularly process over 100 containers an hour.

It also won the ‘Upcoming Terminal of the Year’ at the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust 29th Anniversary Awards on 6 July 2018.

In a statement, PSA said: “Regional CEO for PSA Middle East and South Asia Mr Wan Chee Foong took the opportunity at both events to thank the Ministry of Shipping, JNPT and many other government agencies for their strong commitment and support which had enabled the timely completion of BMCT.

“He also expressed his appreciation to the customers and partners who continue to grow their business with PSA; as well as highlighted PSA India’s evolving focus on developing cargo solutions beyond container terminal operations.”
