PRPA Board of Directors appoint New Chair

The Prince Rupert Port Authority (PRPA) has announced the appointment of Peter Lantin as Chair of its Board of Directors for a two-year term.

Lantin was appointed to the PRPA Board of Directors by the Government of British Columbia in 2019 and is presently serving his second term as a provincial appointment.

During his time on the Board, he has served as Vice Chair, Chair of the Sustainability and Audit Committees, and Member of the Human Resources and Compensation Committee.

PRPA highlighted that Lantin has over two decades of expertise in financial management and government, and he was elected President of the Haida Nation from 2012 to 2018.

Prior to that, he served as Chair of the Gwaii Trust, which owns and maintains a perpetual fund for the benefit of all Haida Gwaii residents.

He was also the Chief Operating Officer for TRICORP, an Indigenous-owned capital organisation that promotes and funds economic development programs, local entrepreneurs and small businesses, as well as skills and training for Indigenous communities in Northwest British Columbia.

Shaun Stevenson, President and CEO of the Prince Rupert Port Authority, said: “Peter has made significant contributions to the Board of Directors over the past five years and his dedication, knowledge, and expertise make him uniquely suited to assume this key leadership role.

“We look forward to continuing to work closely with Peter and the other Directors to further strengthen our organisation and guide the Prince Rupert Gateway through this unprecedented period of development, expansion, and diversification.”

Lantin stated: “The Port of Prince Rupert’s future is bright, and these next several years are pivotal in its evolution as an intermodal logistics and export hub.

“I am grateful to my fellow Board members for entrusting me with this responsibility and I am excited to continue to advance sustainable growth initiatives and further anchor the port as a critical global trade gateway.”

In June, PRPA announced changes to its Board of Directors.
