Syria’s General Authority for Ports and Customs has signed an agreement with CMA CGM to operate two dry ports in the country, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency.
The agreement covers dry port operations in the Adra Free Zone in Damascus Countryside and the Aleppo Free Zone.
According to the official release, the signing took place at the authority’s headquarters in Damascus. The event was attended by Qutaiba Badawi and Joseph Daqaq.

The agreement comes as Syria moves to reconnect inland logistics routes with seaport operations. The release also referred to the restart of freight rail services from Latakia Port to Adra, following a 14-year suspension.
The dry ports are expected to support cargo movement between maritime gateways and inland industrial and logistics areas, although no further operational details, investment figures or launch timeline were provided in the announcement.
CMA CGM had not issued a separate company release on the agreement at the time of writing.
