Porto Itapoá has strengthened its position among Brazil’s leading port terminals, ranking first in Southern Brazil and third nationwide in container handling between January and August 2025, according to the National Waterway Transportation Agency (ANTAQ).
During this period, Porto Itapoá handled 545,304 containers, marking 29 per cent growth compared to the same months of 2024 — well above Brazil’s national average of 8.27 per cent.
The terminal leads container operations across both Santa Catarina and Southern Brazil, second only to the Port Complex of Santos in São Paulo.
Ricardo Arten, President of Porto Itapoá, said: “These results reflect our commitment to efficiency, innovation, and sustainable regional development. Our continuous investments in infrastructure and technology, combined with the dedication of our team, are driving safer, faster, and more sustainable operations.”

Arten emphasised the port’s strategic relevance to Brazil’s logistics network.
He added: “Porto Itapoá is consolidating itself as a key link in the country’s foreign trade chain. Our productivity and reliability indicators position us among South America’s top terminals — a source of pride for Santa Catarina and Brazil as a whole.”
The terminal continues to expand its operational capacity through its Phase IV Expansion, which includes new yards and berths to meet rising cargo demand.
