Egis has been appointed to carry out a technical assessment of the powerhouse facility at the Belawan New Container Terminal (BNCT) in Indonesia, located along the strategically significant Malacca Strait.
The work is aimed at improving infrastructure resilience and operational efficiency at the terminal, which sits within one of the world’s most heavily trafficked maritime corridors.
The BNCT terminal is operated by a consortium comprising DP World, Pelindo, and the Indonesia Investment Authority, and plays a key role in regional and international cargo flows.
The powerhouse under review provides critical support for terminal operations and wider port infrastructure stability.
Egis will assess the current condition of the facility and develop recommendations to support long-term operational performance and sustainability.

The scope includes geotechnical investigations to assess subsurface conditions, alongside non-destructive testing (NDT) to evaluate structural materials without disrupting live operations.
Findings will be used to define upgrade and optimisation strategies aligned with ongoing terminal requirements and future capacity demands.
The assignment extends Egis’ existing involvement in Indonesian port and infrastructure development, reinforcing its role in supporting resilient maritime assets across the Asia-Pacific region.
