DP World has expanded its electric internal terminal vehicle (eITV) fleet at Jebel Ali Port from 14 in December 2024 to 146 units as of October 2025.
The move is expected to cut diesel use and reduce GHG emissions by more than 10 per cent, equivalent to removing 2,255 cars from the road each year.
Used to transport containers between quay cranes, yard stacks and gates, the fleet includes 35 diesel vehicles retrofitted by DP World’s in-house engineering team and over 100 new eITVs sourced from international suppliers.
The units are supported by a network of rapid-charging stations across the terminal.
DP World has also added 11 electric empty container handlers, further supporting the transition to low-emissions port logistics.

With maritime transport accounting for roughly 3 per cent of global transport-related emissions, DP World’s investment in electric vehicles offers a practical step toward decarbonising trade.
Without industry action, emissions are projected to rise to 130 per cent of 2008 levels by 2050.
