Users of a new online gateway for the Port of Oakland will be able to see a live feed of the marine terminals and data for shipments through an 'Oakland Portal' customer interface.
New Jersey-based logistics software provider Advent Intermodal Solutions created the platform as an extension of Advent Intermodal Solutions' customer-based eModal system.
The Oakland Portal will allow the consolidation of information such as vessel schedules, cargo status and live camera views of port thoroughfares from all four of its marine terminals.
It will also allow supply chain operators to overcome the difficulty of tracking containerized cargo from door to door, giving them the ability to locate merchandise and know exactly when and where to dispatch drivers for container pick-up.
Other features of the platform include the function to pay terminal fees, cargo status updates, and trucker appointments are available with registration and a login.
A future upgrade to the Oakland Portal will allow it to include real-time performance metrics and dashboards for portal users such as motor carriers and cargo owners.

The port said that it expects to provide the system updates in early 2019.
John Driscoll, Port of Oakland Maritime Director, said: “This is what our industry is asking for.
“We’re providing a comprehensive digital view of ships, cargo and terminal information all in one place on the computer, no more clicking through multiple websites.”
