SMi Group has announced that the Port of New Orleans will be speaking at International Port Security 2016, which takes places in London on June 1-2.

Now in its seventh year, this year’s event will focus on five subject areas: protecting ports from modern threats; resolving external threats to port security; technological systems in ports; reacting to regulatory systems and change as well as security mechanisms across ports.

Recently added to the agenda is Mr Gary LaGrange, President and CEO of the Port of New Orleans.

Mr LaGrange will be speaking on day one of the conference with his presentation entitled 'Emergency Procedure to Secure a Port During a Crisis' which will explore factors which include developing a recovery plan vs. preparation plan and assessing major damage to port and commercial property.

Visit the event website on www.internationalportsecurity.com/pti to view the full two-day programme with all speakers and their topics.

Joining the Port of New Orleans will be representatives from the Ports of: Bremen, Dover, Helsingborg, Liverpool, Long Beach, Rotterdam, Santos and Vigo.

Chris Jones, Event's Chairman, Managing Director, Maritime Security Operations (MAROPS), said: “We have a fantastic array of speakers from across the world including representatives from Ports, Port Police Units, the IMO and the US Coastguard…”

Running alongside the conference will be a pre-conference workshop hosted by Captain John Dalby, CEO, Marine Risk Management.

The interactive workshop entitled ‘Preparing Ports to Mitigate against External Threats’ will give an overview of what is currently being done and what is being overlooked when it comes to the security of ports.
