Eurogate, Germany’s only deep-water port, has welcomed the world’s largest containership ‘OOCL Germany’ at its container terminal in Wilhelmshaven by arranging containers on the container stowage area near the berth of the vessel to form the number 21,413 — the ship's maximum container capacity.

The ocean liner docked for the first time at EUROGATE Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven on her maiden voyage.

The OOCL Germany is the second in a series of six ships in OOCL’s G class.

Container shipping company OOCL christened the OOCL Germany at the Samsung Heavy Industries shipyard on Geoje Island in South Korea.

Eurogate welcomed her sister ship, the ‘OOCL Hong Kong’ at Eurogate Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven on July 2, 2017.

The OOCL Germany operates on the Asia-North Europe Loop 1 (LL1) and departs from Wilhelmshaven for Felixstowe on October 23, 2017.

Mikkel Andersen, Managing Director of Eurogate Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven, said: “Although we are in the meantime witnessing the world’s largest container vessels at Wilhelmshaven on a weekly basis, each occasion is still something very special.

“We are delighted that the world’s largest container ship, with a capacity of 21,413 TEUs, is calling at Wilhelmshaven.

“We see this as a sign that our customer OOCL is very happy with the performance of the container terminal.”
