Port of Thessaloniki strikes labour deal with dockworkers

The Port of Thessaloniki (ThPA S.A.) and the Federation of Stevedores of Greece (OFE) have successfully concluded their negotiations to regulate dockworkers’ working conditions.

According to a recent announcement, parties signed a new three-year Collective Labor Agreement (CLA) which will regulate the wages and working conditions of ThPA S.A.’s employees.

The agreement will cover the period between 2023-2025.

“Today we agreed with the Management of ThPA S.A. on the new three-year Collective Labor Agreement which is result of positive collective bargaining and is governed by mutually beneficial terms for all parties,” said Simeon Leftheriotis, President of OFE.

“The safeguarding of wages and working conditions of dockworkers contributes to strengthening the sense of job security and peaceful working environment” , stated that “the safeguarding of wages and working conditions of dockworkers contributes to strengthening the sense of job security and peaceful working environment.”

The Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors & Managing Director of ThPA S.A., Thanos Liagkos, highlighted the importance of maintaining a modern working environment, which underscores ThPA S.A.’s commitment to the continuous development of the Port of Thessaloniki.

As part of a $16 million investment, in September 2022 ThPA S.A. acquired two New Panamax specially designed ship-to-shore (STS) cranes at the port.

The new equipment serves main liner vessels of up to 14,000 TEU.
