Port of Melbourne witnesses YoY TEU drop in February
The Port of Melbourne has announced its February 2025 trade figures, revealing a 3.1 per cent year-on-year (YoY) decrease in container throughput to 263,000 TEUs.

In February 2025, full container import volumes (excluding Bass Strait) increased to 108,000 TEUs from the previous year, while furniture, home appliances, and paperboard all performed better than the previous year.

Furthermore, full container export volumes (excluding the Bass Strait) climbed from the previous year to 56,000 TEUs.

The port’s overall non-container commerce in February totalled 2.16 million revenue tonnes, down 1.3 per cent YoY, or 28,000 revenue tonnes, compared to February 2024.

Last month, the Port of Melbourne announced its January 2025 trade figures, revealing a YoY increase in container throughput to 289,000 TEUs.
