Port of Melbourne nears 300,000 TEUs in January

Port of Melbourne reaches 289,000 TEUs in January 2025
The Port of Melbourne has announced its January 2025 trade figures, revealing a year-on-year (YoY) increase in container throughput to 289,000 TEUs.

In January 2024, full container import volumes (excluding Bass Strait) increased to 115,000 TEUs from the previous year, while furniture, home appliances, and paperboard all performed better than last year.

Furthermore, full container export volumes (excluding the Bass Strait) climbed from the previous year to 46,000 TEUs.

The port’s overall non-container commerce in January totalled 2.01 million revenue tonnes, up 16 per cent YoY, or 282,000 revenue tonnes, compared to January 2024.

Last month, the Port of Melbourne announced its November 2024 trade figures, revealing a YoY increase in container throughput to 293,000 TEUs.
