The Port of Los Angeles handled 842,806 TEUs in April, marking a 9.4 per cent increase from last year.
Year-to-date (YTD), the port has processed 3.34 million TEUs, up 6.2 per cent from 2024.
April 2025 loaded imports totalled 439,230 TEUs, a 5 per cent increase from the previous year, while loaded exports dropped 3 per cent to 128,394 TEUs.
The port processed 275,183 empty containers, a 25 per cent rise from last year.

Gene Seroka, Executive Director of the Port of Los Angeles, said: “We’ve had nearly two years of robust volume, including 10 straight months of year-over-year growth.
“Moving forward, we will see a softening of global trade during this period of elevated tariffs and uncertainty. The Port of Los Angeles will use its strong financial base to invest in infrastructure, technology, and workforce development, with $230 million in capital projects planned for the upcoming fiscal year.”
In March, the port handled 778,406 TEUs, marking a 4.7 per cent increase compared to the same month last year.
