Port NOLA boosts maritime security for Super Bowl LIX
The Port of New Orleans (Port NOLA) and the Harbor Police Department (HPD) have announced the implementation of enhanced security and technology at the Maritime Security Operations Centre (MSOC).

The new technology, implemented prior to Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, was employed as part of expanded event security measures.

The MSOC provides the surveillance and communications technology required for operational coordination and crucial information sharing with the United States Coast Guard (USCG) and other public safety organisations.

The new MSOC technologies reportedly aligns with the cybersecurity priorities set by the USCG Sector New Orleans Captain of the Port.

HPD Chief, Melanie Montroll, said: “The Harbor Police Department and its dedicated officers were proud to coordinate with local, state and federal partners as visitors from all over the world traveled to New Orleans for the Super Bowl. Those proactive security initiatives will continue in our ongoing commitment to public safety.”

In January, the Port NOLA received a $1 million grant from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for its Louisiana International Terminal (LIT) Sustainability Management Plan (SMP).
