The Port of New Orleans (Port NOLA) Governor Jeff Landry has named Michael A. Thomas to serve as its Board of Commissioners for a five-year term.
With the alignment of Port NOLA and the New Orleans Public Belt Railroad (NOPB), Thomas will also be appointed Chairman of the New Orleans Public Belt Railroad Commission.
Thomas replaces Joseph F. Toomy, whose most recent five-year tenure began on 16 August 2019 and will formally end on 15 August 2024.
He was named Chairman on 20 September 2024, and his five-year tenure runs until 19 September 2029.

Acting Port NOLA President & CEO and Acting CEO of the New Orleans Public Belt Railroad (NOPB), Ronald Wendel, stated: “We are thrilled to welcome Michael Thomas as Chairman of our Board of Commissioners.

Recently, Port NOLA and NOPB resumed operations following Hurricane Francine.
