The Misurata Free Zone (MFZ) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, strengthening cooperation on port development and logistics.
The signing ceremony was attended by H.E. François Dumont, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Libya, alongside representatives from Belgian ports and Jan De Nul, the international marine engineering and dredging company.
The agreement sets out a framework for collaboration across technical and consulting support, knowledge exchange, institutional capacity building, digital transformation, and the development of clean energy and sustainability initiatives within port operations.

It also covers joint work on port master planning, infrastructure development and specialised terminal projects, including a planned bulk cargo terminal aimed at diversifying cargo handling and improving the competitiveness of Misurata’s port infrastructure.
Both sides highlighted the partnership as a step towards strengthening Misurata Free Zone’s position as a regional logistics hub, with the agreement leveraging the operational and technical expertise of the Port of Antwerp-Bruges to support the development of Libya’s wider maritime and logistics sector.
