Panama Canal progresses port concession process
The Panama Canal Authority has published Amendment No. 3 to the Prequalification Document for the Corozal and Telfers Container Port Terminals initiative.

The prequalification phase began on 30 January 2026 with the initial publication of the Prequalification Document, followed by Amendment No. 1 on 30 March 2026 and Amendment No. 2 on 29 May 2026.

The Authority noted that the publication of the document, clarification periods, amendments and deadline extensions form part of its established Concessions Regulation framework. This framework governs engagement with interested parties throughout the selection process.

Under the process, submissions will be assessed against defined technical, financial and legal criteria set out in the prequalification document and its subsequent amendments.

The Corozal and Telfers Container Port Terminals initiative is intended to enhance Panama’s logistics connectivity, expand capacity complementary to the Panama Canal, and capture opportunities arising from shifts in global maritime trade.
