Monadelphous has secured a construction contract worth approximately A$200 million from BHP for work at the Nelson Point Port Facility in Port Hedland, Western Australia.
The agreement is associated with BHP’s Port Debottlenecking Project 2 (PDP2), which is intended to increase capacity at the port facility.
Under the contract, Monadelphous will install and commission the structural, mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation components required for the construction of Car Dumper 6.
The engineering company will also complete the corresponding installation and commissioning activities for the materials-handling facilities supporting the new car dumper.
Work under the contract will begin immediately and is scheduled for completion in 2028.
Zoran Bebic, Managing Director of Monadelphous, said the award reflected the company’s established relationship with BHP and its previous record of project delivery.

The announcement did not provide details of the anticipated capacity increase or a breakdown of the A$200 million contract value between the car dumper and its supporting infrastructure.
The scope brings together the facility’s structural and mechanical construction with its piping, electrical and instrumentation requirements. Monadelphous will also be responsible for commissioning those systems as part of the project.
Car Dumper 6 and the associated materials-handling facilities will be constructed within BHP’s existing Nelson Point operations at Port Hedland.
Monadelphous Group Limited, which is listed on the Australian Securities Exchange under the ticker MND, announced the contract on 5 August.
The company provides engineering construction, maintenance and industrial services to the resources, energy and infrastructure sectors.
Its Engineering Construction division undertakes large-scale, multidisciplinary and vertically integrated project management and construction services. Its Maintenance and Industrial Services division specialises in planning, managing and delivering mechanical and electrical maintenance, shutdowns and sustaining capital works.

Monadelphous has more than 50 years of experience and is headquartered in Perth, Western Australia. It also has a major office in Brisbane, Queensland.
The company operates offices, projects, facilities and workshops across Australia, as well as in China, Mongolia, Papua New Guinea, Vietnam and the Philippines.
The Nelson Point contract is focused on the installation and commissioning package for the new car dumper and associated handling infrastructure. The company did not disclose further operational or construction milestones beyond the immediate start and expected completion date.
Monadelphous is due to complete the work in 2028, with the project intended to support increased capacity at BHP’s Port Hedland facility.
