A video released recently by Ports America shows the growth of its Port Newark Container Terminal (PNCT) in the last five years after a US$500 billion expansion took place in 2012 in order to become the Port of New York and New Jersey’s leading terminal operation.
PNCT is set for substantial growth as it prepares for the surge of containerships which are anticipated off the back of the Panama Canal, which is scheduled to be completed in May, 2016.
Once development work is completed, the container terminal’s capacity will have more than doubled from 1 to 2.4 million TEU.
