The Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) has appointed Susan Gardner, its Vice President of Operations, as Chief Information Officer.
Kevin Price, GPA President, said: “Susan’s terminal operating expertise, systems knowledge and leadership will take us to the next level of performance for our customers and port users.”
In her outgoing role, Gardner has overseen daily operations at the Port of Savannah, which handles 40 ships and 42 doublestack trains per week, alongside 15,000 truck transactions per day.
The terminal recorded 5.67 million TEUs in fiscal year 2026, making it the fastest-growing port in the US Southeast. The Port of Brunswick, GPA’s second facility, handles more than 700 ship calls annually.
Gardner joined GPA in 2020 as Senior Director of Operations and Projects, before being promoted to Vice President of Operations, a role in which she managed daily terminal operations alongside the Ocean Terminal project.
Before moving to GPA, she spent time at terminal operating system provider Kaleris/Navis as Vice President and General Manager of Field Operations in the Americas, overseeing around 20 on-site software deployments a year across a customer base of more than 100 ports and terminals.
Her appointment brings systems and software deployment experience directly into GPA’s technology leadership, following more than 30 years across progressive operational roles at several US port locations.
