A video released by the Panama Canal shows how the recently inaugurated expansion will strengthen its position as a global green shipping lane.

The new waterway will enable ships to significantly cut transit times on their journeys and thereby reduce the level of CO2 emissions.

The canal has so far reduced more than 589 million tonnes of CO2 in the last 100 years and is set to continue with this massive reduction.
