Panama Canal Inauguration Date Confirmed

The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) has confirmed the official date for the inauguration of the expansion of the Panama Canal, which will take place on June 26, 2016, following the inauguration of its Scale Model Manoeuvring Training Facility on March 23, according to the American Journal of Transportation.

PTI previously reported that ACP will be training over one thousand workers on the operations of the new locks of the Panama Canal Expansion.

The training of Panama Canal workforce is a requirement under the new locks’ contract.

The Panama Canal expansion is currently going through the electro-mechanical phase of construction and is currently 97% completed.
