A video released by the Panama Canal via YouTube shows the April update for the Panama Canal expansion, which is currently 97% complete and due to be inaugurated on June 26, 2016.

The lock’s chambers were recently flooded and gate commissioning tests were started, with more tests due to take place once the construction of the water-saving basins is completed.

It was previously announced that the Panama Canal has set new draft restrictions as a result of the El Niño weather, which means that the new maximum draft will be set at 11.74 metres, beginning on April 29, 2016.
