Norway’s Oslo Port has place an order for two Panamax-size Ship-to-Shore (STS) cranes with Finnish crane manufacturer Konecranes.

The STS cranes, targeted by Konecranes to become the most silent and eco-efficient ever produced, will be delivered in the autumn of 2015 to the Oslo Sjursöya container terminal. The option for a further STS crane is also available.

“Silence is golden, and our goal is to deliver the world’s most silent STS cranes to the Port of Oslo,” says Juha Aatola, Konecranes’ general manager, STS Cranes.

“We have applied the most advanced noise reduction knowledge and technology in order to meet the Port of Oslo’s very tough requirements.”

“We succeeded. We’re very pleased that the Port of Oslo chose Konecranes’ STS cranes.”

Both cranes will be assembled in Finland and will be equipped with LED lights, Ship Profiling and Trim/List/Skew systems. They will have twin-lift operation for maximum handling capacity, a lifting capacity of 64 tonnes, and an outreach of 40 metres.
