The Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) Iris, the biggest vessel to ever call the Port of Savannah, arrived at Garden City Terminal.
The OOCL Iris arrived at the Garden City Terminal on 25 February. Standing 1,204 feet long and 167 feet wide, it can store up to 16,828 TEUs.
The CMA CGM Marco Polo had previously established the Port of Savannah’s capacity record with 16,022 TEU.

The Port of Savannah will transfer over 2,800 containers on and off the Iris, the majority of which will be 40-foot containers, totalling little more than 5,000 TEUs.
The ship left Savannah at midnight on 26 February. In 2026, the Georgia Department of Transportation will begin work on a project to replace current cables on the Talmadge Bridge, increasing its height. This will allow bigger vessels to serve the Port of Savannah.
