Orient Overseas Container Line Ltd. (OOCL) and its partners have teamed up to promote low-carbon shipping solutions and use cleaner fuel to reduce supply chain emissions.
The first low-carbon voyage, which involved numerous companies including IKEA and Kyocera, began in early August. The fuel utilised on the voyage is a B24 biofuel mix that includes ISCC-certified utilised Cooking Oil Methyl Ester in the VLSFO.
Each of these partners will receive a Green Certificate as proof of the carbon emissions savings achieved by using biofuel.

OOCL employs the Well-to-Wake technique to assess carbon emissions across the whole lifespan, from fuel production to ship operation.
The Hong Kong shipping company has been utilising biofuel on some of its vessels since 2023 as part of its strategy to accelerate the transition to decarbonisation.
