ONE revises ETS surcharge

Ocean Network Express (ONE) has announced adjustments to the tariffs for the Emissions Trading System (ETS) surcharge.

This revision will be in effect from 1 April 2024.

The ETS surcharge tariff is segregated by trade, and its quantity and logic will be changed every quarter until advised differently, according to ONE. The carrier also noted that the ETS surcharge is being implemented in accordance with the expansion of the EU ETS legislation to the maritime/shipping sectors, which began on 1 January 2024.

In February, the European Union (EU) ushered in an array of legal responsibilities and operational implications for liners after it formally integrated the maritime sector into its ETS earlier this year.
