Shibata Fender Team (SFT) Malaysia, in cooperation with PT Suprabakti, supplied floating fender systems for the Golar FSRU Nusantara Regas Satu Terminal, located a few kilometers offshore of Jakarta.

The order was received in July 2011 and all fender systems were installed in cooperation with BAM back in early 2012 and have been in service since.

In total, SFT delivered four sets of Ocean Guard Fender Systems with an outer diameter of 3300 millimetres and a length of 6500 millimetres. Terminal operator Golar Management Norway said: “Although being exposed 24/7 to waves, wind, sun, and salt water at our offshore terminal without major maintenance, all fenders are still in good condition.”

The terminal is operated by PT Nusantara Regas, a joint venture between the Indonesian companies Pertamina and Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN). It receives LNG from offloading LNG carriers through a regasification system delivered by the Finnish company Wärtsilä. The FSRU is permanently moored to four dolphins which are equipped with foam filled fenders.

In 2019, Thore Kollmorgen from SFT visited the terminal and conducted an on-site inspection together with Golar LNG personnel.

All necessary maintenance works have been carried out. The systems are set to continue to work properly for the next decade.
