NWSA hits 1.5 million TEU in Q2 2024

Full foreign exports from the Northwest Seaport Alliance (NWSA) has increased 12.6 per cent over June 2023, continuing a ten-month trend of growth.

Voyage consistency, increasing vessel calls, and short import rail durations continue to support high container volumes at the gateway.

Full international imports grew 42.5 per cent, while total international volumes increased 32.5 per cent. June container shipments was 321,432 TEU, up 26.3 per cent from June 2023.

Year-to-date (YTD), volumes are up 11.5 per cent to 1.5 million TEU over the previous year, with complete imports up 18 per cent and full exports up 15.5 per cent.

Domestic container capacity is up 3.4 per cent YTD 2024 compared to YTD 2023. Alaska volumes climbed 5.7 per cent, while Hawaii volumes declined 7.1 per cent.

NWSA’s total international exports resumed their nine-month growth run, increasing by 20.8 per cent over May 2023.
