NWSA February TEUs rise by 13.7 per cent
The Northwest Seaport Alliance (NWSA) has announced that its February 2025 volumes hit 257,705 TEUs, up 13.7 per cent from February 2024.

According to the recent stats from NWSA, full foreign imports surged 27.9 per cent, marking a full year of straight month-over-month (MoM) growth and placing the gateway 4.8 per cent above its five-year average for the month.

Total overseas exports declined by 7.7 per cent.

Year-to-date (YTD) volumes are up 19.3 per cent, with full imports growing 31.3 per cent and full exports declining 1.9 per cent.

In mid-March, the port authority, along with representatives from Husky Terminal and Hapag-Lloyd, welcomed the first call of the Gemini Cooperation at Tacoma (South) Harbor.

The WC4/TP5 transpacific service provides direct capacity between China, South Korea, Japan, and other markets through a dedicated feeder network.

Domestic container shipments grew by 2.2 per cent YTD in 2024. Alaska volumes increased by 0.1 per cent, while Hawaii volumes climbed by 12.8 per cent.

Recently, NWSA joined forces with the Puyallup Tribe to increase the region’s shipping capacity by building a new terminal on the East Blair Waterway.
